With the goal of keeping cost low, a group of scientists at MIT have developed a rear-wheel motor-and-battery combo that provides up to 20 minutes of straight-electric power at an "affordable price"--the work in progress is shooting for under a few hundred dollars. Is there a cheaper way to achieve the same goals?
